Events & Schedule changes
Moe’s Music sponsors several events every year, most of them here in our store. These include The MoeShow, in which our rock ‘n’ roll type students on guitar, bass and drums being formed into bands, which then perform in front of parents, uncles and girlfriends on a night in April. Summertime brings The MoeThrow, which involves throwing unusable instruments and amplifiers to win prizes for distance, destruction and style. We also put on a traditional recital or two every year for our violin, piano and voice students so that they can show off their stuff for family and friends.
Upcoming Events for 2012:
• Bowed String Instrument Master Class - Sunday March 25th, 11:30 to 5:30 PM
This is our 3rd year putting on this event, which is an intensive daylong series of instruction, including Basic Technique, (2) full rehearsals, 75 minutes worth of sectional rehearsals (groups of cellists, violists and violinists), a lunch break, and finalizing prep just prior to the performance at the end of the day. This class will be taught by our own Teresa Browndorf, along with Dr. Alice Lindsay and Thomas Lindsay, the co-principal violist and concertmaster of Symphonicity, the official orchestra of Virginia Beach. This class is open to all ages and skill levels, though there is limited space, and all the kids and adults who have participated have gained personal confidence as well as improved their skills for ensemble performance. There is a $45.00 charge for this event which can be paid at Moe's Music.

•MoeShow 2012 - Monday April 16th at 7:30 PM
This is our 13th year putting on this fun event. A large number of our guitar, bass, drum and vocal students are put into rock bands and rehearsed during the evening for 10 weeks at our store, and then the bands perform 3 or 4 songs apiece in front of an audience of parents, neighbors, friends and loved ones. This year, for the first time, our MoeShow concert will be at the Jewish Mother in Virginia Beach, and there is no cover charge to attend. There is a $95.00 charge for this event, and for an extra $15.00 each participant will receive a professionally recorded DVD of the show.

Every year, our repair shop receives instruments and amplifiers which are found to be not cost effective to repair. What to do with these unloved cast-offs? We throw 'em! That's right, we have a contest in the alley behind the store! For a donation to the Foodbank of Southeast Virginia, each participant has a chance at throwing a guitar or amplifier in order to win a prize in the categories of Distance, Destruction or Style. Everyone has fun in the summer sun! (Date to be announced when winter is over)
